All individual parts, but especially our super light tail-end and boom head, make the PRO-BOOM the lightest boom on the market with a total weight of 2.25-2.50 kg depending on the size.
A lighter boom will improve your sailing. The total reduction of your rig weight will make windsurfing easier. Specially the reduction in swing weight at the tail-end of the boom will be noticed during gibes, tacks or water starts. Also this reduction in weight and especially swing weight will make your sailing more efficient. Having a lighter boom will reduce the downward pressure you put on your board. With 2/3rd of the boom hanging behind the board this weight reduction translates 100% to increased efficiency.
ONE of a KIND Tail-End.
With the unique tail-end design we went for an eye catching, yet simple design that is different then any other boom on the market. The construction that came to life during the design process ensures maximum stiffness and minimal weight. In our Tail-End design structural and functional elements come together to maximize weight reduction and functionality. Combining structural components with functional components allows us to have perfect alignment of the internal outhaul system.
The tail-end comes in three different sizes, small, medium and large. We recommend to use the small tail-end on speed boards and very small slalom boards with sails up to 5.6m. The medium tail-end is the recommended tail for high and medium wind slalom boards with a sail range from 5.6 to 8.6m. The large tail-end is recommended for the light wind boards with sails 8.6 and up. With a weight varying from 290 to 500 gram for the different sizes, the tail-end of the PRO-BOOM is the lightest tail-end currently on the market.
ONE of a KIND Boom-Head.
The boom head is one of the most important components of a boom. The boom head should provide a solid and stiff connection from boom to mast. A stiff connection between the boom and the mast provides the basis for an efficient energy transfer and a precise response and feedback to the rider. We carefully analyzed the loading of the boom head and designed a boom head that efficiently transfers the loads. The result of our design process is a boom head that consists of one single structural carbon part where the fibers are aligned with the loads. As we were able to align carbon fibers to the loading angles we obtain maximum stiffness with minimal weight. It also allowed us to remove all excessive material to create a boom head that is lighter than anything on the market. The closing system of the boom head consists of two separate carbon/glass fiber clips together with two rubber straps. The rubber straps are mounted on the structural part of the boom head to provide optimal grip to the mast and to prevent wear. To prevent wear on the body of the boom a thin layer of rubber is also applied between the body of the boom and the boom head. At 190 grams the PRO-BOOM head is the lightest and stiffest head on the market.
The perfect Curve.
A lot of effort went into optimizing the body of the boom. The ergonomic balance in the curve of the boom will ensure a better stance and a more efficient sailing position. Moderate circular grip, at 29mm Ø outside the grip diameter minimizes fatigue, while also giving the boom controlled flex and great response. The diameter of the structural part varies from 35mm under the head tapering down to 27.5mm (29 with grip) in the holding area and then back to 34mm in the back to have minimum weight and maximum stiffness.
The construction of the body is also unique. We only use the best fibers and due to our different production process we are able to control the fiber angle and wall thickness at every position in the boom. The fiber layup we choose to use is engineered based on a FEM analysis which is based on measured loading on the boom during sailing. With our fiber layup we maximize fiber loading that allowed us to reduce the weight without compromising stiffness or durability. Making the body a piece of engineering that sets the feeling of this boom apart.
